Nguyen Tien Minh continues journey with victory in Vietnam Open 2026 qualifiers

As the lights on the Vietnamese stadium dimmed, a familiar figure still stood there. Nguyen Tien Minh, a 43-year-old player, just defeated Nguyen Hoang Thai Son in the qualifiers of Vietnam Open 2026 Super 100. This victory is not just a result on the ranking table, but also a testament to the resilience of those who fight on the shuttlecock court. In the context of a regional tournament attracting over 300 athletes from 27 countries, Nguyen Tien Minh turned the opponent's singles weakness into an opportunity. He exploited the lack of singles specialization in Nguyen Hoang Thai Son, a doubles specialist, through early serve and attack. This is a classic opportunistic style match, where experience compensates for age.
